Secrets La Romana Resort & Spa

Secrets La Romana Resort & Spa is the adults-only all-inclusive on the resort stretch of Bayahíbe Beach, just north-west of Bayahíbe village. Many travelers still know it as Hilton La Romana, an All-Inclusive Adult Resort. After Hyatt bought Playa Hotels & Resorts, the company that owned the property, it moved to the Secrets brand in 2025. Its sister, Dreams La Romana, is next door.

The resort has 356 suites and is for guests 18 and over. The Secrets formula is Hyatt's upscale adults-only all-inclusive, which typically means à la carte restaurants, premium drinks, room service, a spa (treatments extra) and evening entertainment geared to couples. The two resorts share some facilities, but the Secrets side stays adults-only; ask Hyatt how the current exchange rules work between the two.

The beach in front is a calm, clear stretch of the Caribbean with a gentle entry, good for swimming and with some snorkeling over the reef patches offshore. Sand is golden rather than bright white, and parts of the shore are rocky, but the water is the real draw, much flatter than on the Punta Cana coast. Sargassum is generally less of an issue here than on the east coast, though heavy years can bring some.

Renovation: both La Romana properties were scheduled to start renovations in mid-2025 as part of the Hyatt transition. The phased closures announced for that work ran into November 2025, and current tour-operator listings no longer show renovation notices, but it is still worth asking about any construction when you book.

Location is a strength. You are a short walk or taxi ride from Bayahíbe village, where the boats leave for Isla Saona and dive centers run trips to the St. George wreck. La Romana International Airport is about 20 minutes by car, and Punta Cana's airport about an hour.

Best for: couples, honeymooners and friends traveling without kids who want a full-service all-inclusive with calm water. Not for: families (book Dreams instead), travelers who want a long white-sand beach, or those who want a big party scene. Hyatt brand rules and inclusions change over time, so check the current inclusions on Hyatt's site before booking.
