About Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa

Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa is the family side of the old Hilton La Romana complex on Bayahíbe Beach. It was Hilton La Romana, an All-Inclusive Family Resort, until Hyatt took over Playa Hotels & Resorts in 2025 and moved it to its Dreams brand. (The complex was also called Dreams La Romana before it became a Hilton in 2018. Do not confuse it with Dreams Dominicus La Romana, a separate, newer Dreams resort in the Bayahíbe area.) The adults-only Secrets La Romana is next door.

It has 418 rooms and suites and is built around families: a water park with slides, a kids club, a teens club, several pools and a mix of buffet and à la carte restaurants. The Dreams all-inclusive plan covers meals, drinks, entertainment and non-motorized water sports; spa treatments and some premium extras cost more. The two resorts share some dining, but the Secrets side is adults-only, and the exchange rules have changed over time, so check before you go.

The beach is the same calm Caribbean stretch as Secrets: flat water most days, gentle entry and decent snorkeling just offshore. It is a good beach for small kids. The sand is golden, with some rocky patches along the shore, and the beach is not as wide as Playa Dominicus. Sargassum is less frequent than in Punta Cana but does arrive in heavy years.

Like its sister resort, Dreams La Romana was scheduled to begin renovations in mid-2025. The phased closures announced for that work ran into November 2025 and no longer appear on current tour-operator listings, but ask about any construction when booking.

Day trips are close by: Bayahíbe's pier for Isla Saona and Isla Catalina is minutes away, and the resort's tour desk can arrange pickups. La Romana International Airport is around 20 minutes by car and Punta Cana about an hour.

Best for: families with children of any age, multi-generational groups, and parents who want a water park without the size of a Punta Cana mega-resort. Not for: couples looking for peace (book Secrets), travelers who want a long white beach, or nightlife seekers. For family trip planning, our traveling with kids guide covers the basics that apply anywhere in the country.
