Zip-Line Adventure Park
Twelve zip lines through the Dominican forest, plus a freshwater cenote swim at the iconic Hoyo Azul
About This Activity
Scape Park in Cap Cana is the dominant zip-line and adventure park near Punta Cana, and the experience is significantly more substantial than the typical resort excursion park. The flagship offering is eight interconnected zip lines plus a via ferrata that descend through Dominican forest canopy at varying heights and lengths, ending at a base where guests can also access the Hoyo Azul cenote, a series of caves, climbing walls, and a few other adventure activities. Travelers who do the full park typically spend 4 to 6 hours and treat it as a major day excursion.
The zip lines themselves are professional-grade with double-line safety harness systems, full helmets, and trained guides at every transition platform. The longest line runs around 1,500 feet at speeds of 30 to 40 mph; the others vary in length and height. The forest setting is genuine: real Caribbean dry forest with wildlife sightings (lizards, occasional birds) and authentic terrain rather than a manicured park environment. Riders are weight-checked and equipment is properly fitted; first-time zip-liners adjust quickly.
The Hoyo Azul cenote is the standout secondary experience. A short hike from the zip-line base leads to a deep limestone sinkhole filled with stunningly clear blue-tinted freshwater. The water is cold (around 68 to 72°F, refreshing after the zip lines), the walls are dramatic limestone, and the swim is among the most photogenic experiences in Punta Cana. Life vests are provided; the cenote is deep but the swimming is gentle.
The rest of Scape Park includes a network of caves to explore (some require a brief crawl), climbing and rappelling activities at additional cost, a bicycle eco-tour, and a couple of restaurants for lunch. A full-park ticket includes access to most of the standard activities; specialty experiences like rock climbing or deep cave exploration cost extra.
Families with kids 8+ and reasonable comfort with heights handle the zip lines well. Younger kids can access the cenote and caves but not the longer zip lines (height and weight requirements vary). Couples and groups of friends find the full park a genuinely engaging day. Older travelers with mobility limitations should be cautious; the terrain involves some hiking, stairs, and uneven ground.
Booking strategy: a full Scape Park day pass runs $130 to $175 per person depending on the package selected. The basic zip-line-only package runs lower; the full-park access including Hoyo Azul, caves, and additional activities runs higher. Booking through the park direct or local Cap Cana operators is straightforward. Hotel pickups are available from many operators for an additional fee.
Who it's best for: families with kids 8+, adventure-minded travelers, groups of friends, couples who like active days, and anyone interested in the Hoyo Azul cenote experience specifically. Who it's not: travelers with significant fear of heights, anyone with serious mobility limitations, very young kids (most zip lines have minimum age and weight requirements), and travelers with limited adventure interest. Bring: water shoes for the cenote, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, hat, and a dry bag for valuables.
